Getting to Know Me Bloghop

Hi all, I'm very glad to be taking part in this 'Getting to Know me Blog hop'. I was tagged by my lovely friend and fellow blogger, Sarah George of Blessing Art Ideas. Thank you so much Sarah. Here I go with the information.

Stocking Flowers

First, a little bit about me. I am a software engineer by profession and was working in one of the big ones in Bangalore. I quit my job when we moved to the US early this year. So right now, I'm a SAHM for my 9 month old daughter :) I get to craft when she's sleeping :)
I enjoy making cards, crochet, making jewelry and making flowers. I started blogging when I discovered an Itsy Bitsy contest and wanted to take part in it. From then on, there was no turning back.

1. What am I working on?

I'm currently working on a Scrapbook/Baby book for my daughter. I've been planning on this for a long, but was just scared to do it. Finally I've picked up all I can and I'm trying to jump right into it. I hate to admit that I haven't even completed 1 page :) Hopefully I'll share it pretty soon and that would be my first attempt at scrapbooking. I'm also working on a congratulations card for a couple who had a baby last week. I will share the baby card soon.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I believe everyone's work is unique in it's own way. I try to reduce the use of store-bought embellishments and enjoy making embellishments like flowers. Of late,  I love CAS more than any other style! I'm still an amateur in stamping. I am looking forward to buying a die cutting machine in the near future. So, as of now, my works are no where near the experienced, seasoned crafters. I'm still an amateur in most of the aspects.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?
A CAS card

It gives me a sense of satisfaction when I see what I have created is beautiful. And when I read the comments on my blog, I'm literally flying!! If I win sone contest, I'm on cloud nine :) It just makes me forget all my worries and tiredness.

4. How does your writing/creating process work?

I'm mostly inspired by some contest theme or a blog post from a fellow blogger. Sometimes I see something in Pinterest and want to do something like it. Sometimes I just get a wild idea while trying to sleep at night :) At times, when I try to create something that I had in mind, it just doesn't turn out as expected. When it does, nothing can make me more happy!! Below 2 pics are examples of that.

Whew!! That was a long one!! are you still here?? I never thought I could write such a long post!! My blog posts in the initial days will have only the pictures :)

Thanks for reading till the end :)

Now I would like to tag EsVee of Dainty Delights. She's a crafter, a cook and a new mom. Her creations are simple and elegant. Her recipes are yummy. Please do visit her.

CAS Baby Card

Hello people, I'm back with another CAS card. I made this for a couple who had a baby recently. The baby was a cute girl :) I love girls :) I've always wanted girls. You can dress them up in many beautiful attires and make so many accessories for them. Luckily mine is a girl :) She's only 9 months now.

So here is the card:

My husband had bought me an embossing punch from Itsy Bitsy in Bangalore. I used it for the first time in this card. The flower, doll, butterfly and teddy bear are embossed using it. A closer look at the embossing.

The butterfly is punched using an MS punch. Another view of the card.

Happy Birthday

Hello all, I'm back with another birthday card that I made for my Father-in-law.

It is a pretty CAS card. Most of my regular readers would now know that CAS has become my new favorite :) I used the PP from Colorbok - Delilah paper pad and center one is a washi tape. The bow is cut using a border punch. The sentiment is from "Stamping Bella - Uptown Girl POSH has a present" stamp.

A close-up on the gift boxes.

I embossed the bottom part of card with my score board.

Please do let me know your thoughts and comments.
